"A few weeks ago, the site owner's attorneys received a legal injuction from the German Bundeskriminalamt. According to the injunction, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation was requesting the site owner be extradited to the United States to face criminal charges for possession and distribution of some of the more illicit AI-related content which - despite our best efforts - we were unable to prevent being posted to the forums.

Understandably, the site owner panicked. Initially, the attorneys advised us to go into "damage control" and limit the content that could be shared on the forums. But then the Bundeskriminalamt relayed an offer for the site owner to enter into a plea deal with the FBI on one sole condition: handing over all user data - including all usernames, passwords, email addresses, and IP logs - to the FBI.

The site owner's attorneys advised him to accept the plea deal, as the U.S. government is apparently keen right now to gather as much data as they can to build profiles on so-called potential "political extremists." Several of us attempted to dissuade him, but the site owner eventually broke down and apparently decided to accept the deal. I have not heard anything from him since the forums went down."
