My assumption is most of it is people just use Greg as a stand-in male characters for a lot of porn with other SU characters (like Marco in svfoe, Steven was used the same way but it's decreased over time, especially with Connie). 4chan SU threads had a popular joke about Greg having a "murdercock" that's so good Rose died for it, which encouraged more use of him (especially with gems but also in general). A lot of people also seem to just not like Steven for some reason (or don't like SU but like the girls) so they disrespect him a lot along with him getting cucked, usually by his dad or Kevin.

That is not what the murdercock meme means.

According to official canon, Gems are not normally able to repruduce with a Human.
Steven's mom wanted very much to have a half-human half-gem baby (steven).
In order to do that she willingly and knowingly made the conscious decision to sacrifice her own life to create a baby (steven) and provide him with her own gem. Steven has Rose's gem embedded in his belly button (albeit with a slightly more red hue) and it allows Steven to use Rose's magic powers.

Since reproducing with a human is fatal to gems, the joke was made that greg killed rose with his penis (by impregnating her). Hence, murdercock.
