Summary:

I started off as an illustrator, producing paintings for the Vampire RPG card game series by Wizards of the Coast and doing sample work for various comics, before being seduced by video games in 1996. I began my digital career as a texture artist, but quickly moved into animation and over the years I've developed a fairly broad set of skills.
I've worked extensively as a character animator, 3D generalist, storyboard artist and even as an animation director. My skill set includes:

- 3D Modelling and Sculpting
- 2D/3D Animation and Motion Graphics
- Illustration and Storyboards
- Texturing and Baking
- Working in 3D Engines, particularly Unity
- Rigging and VFX

I've worked on 4 PC/Console games, 3D webisodes, an animated movie and somewhere in the region of 200+ slot games (I've lost count!), both online and land-based.

I am also a competent Music and Sound Designer, and have worked in this capacity on many slot games, particularly ones demanding rock or guitar music.

I have to solve a lot of technical problems in my line of work (rigging, simulations, workarounds etc) and have well-developed skills in these areas, but I'm definitely more artistic than technical.
I have led teams but I'm not really interested in arbitrary positions of authority; I am definitely of the mindset that if you hire good artists, the best thing you can do is clear the road and let them do their jobs. I am a self-motivated and highly productive worker.

I suppose what I enjoy most is creating characters and environments and short cinematics. I often wish I had more time to really get into detail, though. Creating playable assets in Unity is also quite satisfying but it's often very arduous getting there.

Core software: Blender, After Effects, Photoshop, ZBrush, Manga Studio, 3D Studio Max, Substance Painter. I use a lot of other programs too, but those are my go-to tools.

Currently I am Senior Animator at Play AGS, making animations for slot games. This includes everything from symbol animations to real time environments to giant screen cinematics.
Most of what I publish here on Artstation is personal projects- all the stuff I don't get to do at work.

In my spare time I play in bands, record music and enjoy making the gig posters (when I have time).

Work:

Senior Animator at American Gaming Systems (Play AGS)
Sydney, Australia
August 2017 - Present
Producing 2D and 3D animations for the slot gaming industry.

Contract Generalist at Red Cartel
Sydney, Australia
July 2016 - Present
I am contracted by Red Cartel on an ad-hoc basis for a variety of work including cinematics, animations and promotional materials. Basically I do whatever needs doing.

Animation Lead at NextGen Gaming
Sydney, Australia
April 2005 - March 2016
Working as an animation all-rounder, mostly on short in-game animations but also the occasional short movie.
I got to do a bit of everything- modeling, animation, effects, sculpting, drawing, editing- whatever gets the job done.
Often I would be responsible for creating animations in their entirety, from conceptual sketches to models and textures to final renders and visual effects.
For a few years I was Animation Team Lead, responsible for mentoring and and ensuring the productivity of other animators. Eventually the animation team was scaled back from 8 members to just two, including myself, so the title became somewhat redundant.
During my time at Next Gen I worked on hundreds of games, many of them highly successful. I've run the gamut from churning out games weekly to finessing things over several months and proved myself time and time again on many demanding projects, and worked on a great many high-profile IPs such as Batman and Spiderman. I've always tried to maintain a high standard of work while working as quickly as possible.

May 1997 - July 1999
Worked mostly on "Attack of the Saucerman", a PC/playstation title producing art, animation and models, and also building levels.
