That is not what that says in Japanese, And that line only reads like that when put into a machine translator.

What you haven't thought is that many times MTL HIGHLY DISCOURAGES people to get a proper translation, and has happened before. In example, I personally if I had more resources I would commission a proper english translation, but if something has already a MTL it discourages me of commissioning a proper translation, because what's the point anymore if a translation exists, even if it's a shitty one? I would enjoy a better translation, but certainly I wouldn't pay for one if a MTL one exists. The same should happen to passion translators, they feel like there's no point in sacrificing precious time if a work has a translation even if it's a bad one, and it's not just a supposition, this because I've seen good passionate translators from this site explicitly stating that.

And I'm pretty sure this sentiment is shared by many people here. Do you understand the issue now?

MTL is shit. But translator don’t translate almost anything. I prefer having raws for people who know Japanese to read (also to appreciate the art even if you don’t know the language)

Gatekeeping raws only works if proper translators are willing to translate 100% of them: which will never happen. Also; Wouldn’t a MTL still make proper translation needed? I fail to see how it discourages anything, since MTL is worthless garbage

That argument can be good if it's gone YEARS something without a proper translation, which there is a handful of works that have never been translated and they don't even have a proper MTL, and if one of those works gets a MTL and the original one was released around 5 years ago without proper translation, in that case scenario, I agree and I wouldn't be mad it got a MTL, because after such a large amount of time, it is clear there's not the slightest interest to translate the piece.

However, this is NOT the case. This MTL was released 16 HOURS AFTER RAWS WERE POSTED. No quality translation gets done that quick. They take a week at the very least. 2 days if the translator dedicates the whole day to it, is very fast and has a full team working on it.

Now, riddle me this. If you say MTL are done with the purpose, why then there are plenty of doujins that haven't had a single translation for YEARS such as https://e-hentai.org/g/1341309/26666ddc57/ which has been now 6 YEARS WITHOUT A TRANSLATION? and there are other doujins with even more time without a proper translation. Why these never get a translation but instead MTL targets the most recent new raw that has been released on this site? shouldn't these works that never get a translation be their priority if you say they do "to avoid having works untranslated"?

So yeah, please don't make that "to avoid works never getting translated" bullshit as argument to justify these MTLs.

I think they’re worthless. My argument is against gatekeeping and never releasing the raws. The scans in the original language. Learn to read. People here were suggesting to gatekeep and not release raws until proper translation exists. Which would lead to a high number of raws never being released because only a fe works get proper translation

I understand wanting to fight MTL, but gatekeeping raws is not the way. Try to convince the site admins to ban them or something.

Your method of hiding raws until they get translated only works if proper translators swear to translate 100% of them and that will never happen
