Not bad advice, but why is this only coming out NOW? If her grandad gave her these words to live by, shouldn't we have seen them when Hugo was giving her guff?

Wait, what? She freezes for two minutes after challenging him, and suddenly he's more willing to give her whatever room to breathe that she needs? Why isn't he just laughing at her and considering this a win?
