I like the art style but am very confused as to how this place works. They seem to live in a jungle or savanna like world but some animals choose to do this? As the father lives in a mansion mansion like building in civilization or some kind? But why is,the Son living in the wild? And further more why is he killing sentient animals similar to himself to eat, his Father doesn't seem to need to that while living the lab of luxury. But the Son does? I don't fully get it but it's Still interesting.

As a bit of a explanation and also based on personal opinion of what I saw it seems the 'world' is similar to ours, high and low developed society. So the reason they 'choose' to live there is likely because of a mixture of culture (the father refers to living there as a self-imposed exile so likely it is a case of once you leave you can't come back) and need (living in modern society requires a great deal of work such as a job, money, etc. which for most hunters and the such would be extremely difficult what with the lack of training in the matters) separating the two.

As for the case of sentientivore (yes, that is one of the terms for a sentient being eating another sentient being since cannibalism applies to ones own kind) it is likely just a simple case of need, same as before, they grew up hunting to kill and eat same as our variants of tribals, just theirs happen to have the difference of talking back which of coarse tends to lead to the occasional case of interspecies breeding if they can see past the target as more then just a slab of meat.

as for species mixing that is actually something that occurs often enough in the animal kingdom in reality without needing sentience though it is normally put on similar looking species such as tigers-lions being the prime example. So.... imagining what things would be like if all of them were sentient it seems likely species mixing would be a lot more common place, so as explained before, if they can see the target as more then just as slab of meat it is likely interspecies mating might occur.
