Ah, wonderful... The comic that not only retcons everything, but doesn't even properly establish to WHAT it's retconning in the first place.
Patrick is with Nightshade instead of Puzzle. Okay, she seems nice enough at the beginning of this comic. So then why does her character devolve into a toxic bitch who can almost never fuck Patrick without someone ELSE being there so she can humiliate him? Why the active animosity between Nightshade and Diamond? Why would Nightshade choose to sit directly across from Diamond JUST so she could stare daggers into her, when it'd be significantly easier to just sit anywhere else? I can imagine Diamond hating Nightshade for coming into Patrick's life and taking him away from her threeway relationship between her, Patrick and Puzzle, but that never happened, because it was ALSO retconned so that Patrick was NEVER with Puzzle. Apparently those first few comics that introduced us to Patrick and Puzzle were, in reality, just a bunch of slashfic written by Diamond. ...Umm.... BULLSHIT. Why would ANYONE invent stories about their lover being with her SIBLING? There's been nothing to suggest that Diamond is attracted to Patrick in any way (according to this new reality, anyway), so why would she fantasize about him at all, let alone like THAT? Sexual relationships between siblings are so rare that the idea will NEVER enter your mind until you actually see something happening between them firsthand. Even IF she dreamed up this other reality where Patrick and Puzzle were involved with each other, it had to have been based on something that actually happened to spark this otherwise unthinkable pairing, but no, apparently NOTHING ever happened between them. Not even anything as simple as Puzzle introducing Patrick to Diamond as "my boyfriend" when she MEANT to call him "my brother", a Freudian slip would could EASILY be forgiven because of her characteristic ditziness. Diamond has no reason to fantasize about Patrick in this way AT ALL.
And the icing on the cake is that this particular comic will never be finished or elaborated upon in favor of Kadath just doing whatever, brushing off any and all criticism with "It isn't canon" because he never established what IS canon in the first place. Ugh...
