There have been a few different times where I tried to commission something to get it translated (full pay, whatever the translated typically charged) and the translator declined because it was already translated and they didn't care that it was just a shitty mtl translation (atm machine) or that I wanted to pay. They just didn't want to do it because someone else already had. Before those occurrences I kinda thought the way Bior did and felt like raemew's argument while true was minor and rare. Not anymore. Shitty translations absolutely make something less likely to get a decent translation even when someone offers to pay the commission.

And ya while to each their own, personally I'd rather look at a language I don't understand or a textless version than a terrible translation full of gibberish and ooc dialogue that's often wrong and doesn't make any sense.

It's not even MTL thats the problem. It's the complete lack of effort. This 100% was not proof read in any way. I'm by no means fluent in Japanese and I often have to look up kanji when trying to translate something, but at least proof read it a few times to see if everything makes sense contextually and reads well. I had started working on this before the raw was posted, I'll try to finish it.

When I clicked on this gallery, I was planning to nitpick yet another "What the hell is wrong with you?"-level romanization, but skimming the comments gave me some idea why no one would care.

EDIT: Looking at the comments here again, I'm thinking:
• Making English versions is a creative process, and how you feel about it at the time can greatly influence the product and even your ability to make anything. I generally don't feel like translating something once I learn an English version exists (and that's still true now that I'm refusing to do any image editing).

• If you want to help actual translations appear on this site, you should probably volunteer to do the editing. I'm sure you'll meet plenty of people like me who have some interest in language, stories, etc but zero interest in doing more work after the script is done. You could also consider posting text-cleared versions of things you like.

• I can understand feeling upset if something you want to love gets fed to a monster and all you have left to enjoy is whatever the monster pooped out. That said, the general attitude on this site tends to get exceptionally negative. The comments here aren't bad about that at all, comparatively speaking, but actual humans putting actual effort into things are getting much worse responses to that effort. If you want humans to translate things, you should probably encourage everyone to treat actual translators very well (especially new translators). Trust me, they care a lot more about the reaction to their effort than people who only bother to post monster poop.
