Interesting start, but this final ... sounds like the writer planned something very long, and then whoops ! Gotta shorten the story and end it there. Such a build up for a so little twist : BAM. You won ! Congratulations !
I feel like it needs a rewrite, make it a bit longer. Not much, just enough to make the reader feel like the hero actually tried something, instead of getting the victory on a silver platter
