Spoilers for Fallout. Sure it's almost 30 year old game but there might be some people that haven't played it enough to see this part, for example the artist here.

Female super mutants are actually part of plot point you can use to defeat the final boss without combat, if you're doing some kind of pacifist play through or something.

The Master's plan for the Unity is, of course, to have super mutants replace humanity since they are both more resilient to the perils of the post apocalypse as well as more united as a hive mind kind of thing. However you can learn from an autopsy done by the brotherhood of steel that super mutants are all sterile from the FEV. When you confront the master with this information and try to convince him you're telling the truth one option is to have him ask the super mutants in his army about it, and then ask some of the female super mutants about it. They confirm they can't get pregnant and thus the Unity idea is doomed.
