Tanjiro had recently been on the verge of falling in love with the alluring Kanao, but he is now traveling to the Blade Smith Village to exchange his sword. There, Tanjiro meets the Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji. He had heard from Zenitsu that she was the kindest of the Pillars, someone who wouldn’t even hurt a fly.

After nearly a full day of training with the Mist Pillar, Muichiro, Tanjiro decides to relax in the village hot springs. However, his peace doesn’t last long; when the Love Pillar, Mitsuri, joins him, Tanjiro becomes terribly uneasy. Tanjiro is surprised by the fact that Mitsuri doesn’t mind exposing her body to men, and he wonders if she is truly that innocent—so much so that she isn’t embarrassed to show herself to a man she isn’t romantically involved with.

Mitsuri makes no attempt to keep her distance from Tanjiro; instead, she leans against his shoulder as she speaks to him. But their heartwarming reunion is short-lived; Mitsuri, the Love Pillar, appears and cuts in between them. Mitsuri grabs Kanao’s shoulder firmly and says, “Sorry, but I have plans with Tanjiro tomorrow,” then grabs Tanjiro’s hand and tries to drag him away by force. Kanao is taken aback. She wonders if something has happened between Tanjiro and Mitsuri. "She grabbed his shoulder so hard, and she was pretty forceful with Tanjiro, too. What on earth is going on?" These thoughts flash through Kanao’s mind as her boyfriend is dragged away by the Love Pillar.
