Disclaimer : AI have been used. 90% of the Decensoring was done by hand first then I used AI for touches up edits so everything seamlessly blends in together clean. My goal was to touch Ishimiso surrounding arts as little as possible while using it as much as possible to guide my redraws.
I feel like I must say this since nowadays some people are really hard against AI no matter what, even tho people used stuff like DeepCreamPy (which is straight up AI, and not the edit type) to decensor mangas since long before the AI Craze. It's just a tool, it's about how you use it, not everything is black or white (Also I run it on my computer so no external GPU/RAM or BigTech cloud have been used LOL).

Most of the people here aren't "hard on AI" - they're hard on retards who slap good work into a translator and immediately upload it here looking proud of themselves after smearing the walls with shit. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of translators just clean up AI output, but at least they read it and got it to make some sense.

It's the broken pronouns and nonsensical translations that cause reactions.

I'm not so sure about that, I used to work for a TL team (free one as a hobby obviously) about 10-15 years ago and translations were always exclusively done by someone proficient in both Languages (JP and EN for English Translations).
Sometimes other languages translate from English instead of JP if there are no other choices, which increases the risk of lost-in translation but also makes clean English translations all the more important.

You're not wrong either with the MTL slops, most of them comes from people who don't know proper english in the first place, so they cannot even make it readable (or don't care?) and it's really madening to read. It's like the "Queen Bee" of Doujins LOL (if you know you know).
Issue is, even if you're good at english itself, without any clue about Japanese you have pretty much no way to tell if you're conveying the correct message and sentences since well... you can't read Japanese. And even if you have the visuals to guide you, it's far from enough (and accuracy is important to stay true to the original author work and intent).
Don't look down on translators, it's not easy stuff (don't look down on cleaners/redrawers either, they're often overlooked but they're often the ones spending the longest time on each work if raw is bad or if you see a lot of out-of-bubbles speech).

Depends on the work, but a lot of porn doesn't have any deeper intent or anything where the nuances of either language really matter. If the work has something beyond porn to offer, it would benefit from a proper translation, but if it's just slop to begin with, even the best translation won't do anything to improve it, only wasting the translator's time.
