For those who are confused (...or not old enough... I'm definitely going to cry in the my car later for being able to explain this...) Max is a human Robotech ace-pilot. Mira used to be a Zentradi ace-pilot. Mira met her match in Max and was instantly taken by his razor-sharp flawless fighter-Robo skills. Later she volunteered for the "Zentradi Infiltration & Fact Finding Mission" which put Zentradi through a miniaturization process. The Zentradi are a race of people who are at least 8 stories tall as adults; human look like Barbie dolls in comparison. Mira did this to seek out Max and find out who and what kind of person this individual was whom she called her "nemesis." They met for the first time "again" in an arcade where Max was besting anyone in a PvP fighter flying simulator. Taking up the challenge, Mira recognized his fighting style and correctly assessed the person opposite her in the game was the same person she encountered (and escaped) in combat.
