@Filtyfun According to their Patreon, there appears to be a Part 1 and Part 2. So I'm holding out hope that we'll get more breathing room for the story to unfold. And as for the reason for the transformation, could be as berney says and it's a matter of "Reality Abhors a Vacuum" type of Time Travel, where reality forces you into a new form that fits into the time period you're in.
