the overdone cliches are so fucking awful that its hard to believe that works like these used to be written in earnest and not as a parody.

It has it charm, very soulful for sure, but I seriously don't miss the stupidity of "boring ass MC who does nothing nor says anything gets the love of several perfect girls for no reason, then acts so shy that its borderline rude and exaggerates any reactions to their unwarranted affections. Also everyone around is super jealous and wants to inflict disproportionate violence when its not his fault"

Oriandu You're right. I completely forgot that the first girl in the series wasn't the captain. But let's be honest, the author's favorite is obviously the team captain, with the blonde rival captain coming in second. After that, I'd say it's the rival team's glasses-wearing assistant manager, followed by the captain's kohai.
