Personality excretion is not necessarily killing/murder/snuff.
the way I understand how it works (in this and most other personality excretion + possession/body swap), the body is still alive but an empty shell, and the person then moves to the new body, either spiritually or via slime/personality excretion/parasite/etc.

And, in stories like this one, eating the personality jelly allowed them to gain the memories and "become" that person
(In other stories, personality jelly can be inserted into a different body and that soul/mind/consciousness is moved to that new body)

I guess this brings you to questions of consciousness and what makes me, me - and you, you. Soul, mind, brain, identify, whatever.. You know?

Presumably, the MC has done this before, hence how they got to be the black haired JK that they currently are.
