One of the most prolific combination / goudoushi works from the early 'forbidden books' era by a talented pool of both BL and bishojou artists of their day. A SICK PERSON'S JOURNAL was corroborated by 'Triton', the publisher themselves are still unknown to this very day. This work was advertised in Lemon People quite a bit apparently while initial interest was garnered by simple flyers and correspondence with other artists, some of which were included in this particular book. The author seems to have ben associated with Amatriasha via a 'Kadowaki'(門脇方).

While not a commissioned work, it frames Otaku interests as a 'disease' of sorts with a tongue and cheek play on medical journals. The works range from ero pieces with lesbianism to cheesecake illustrations. The final few pages were actually sewn shut and hidden, possibly as a tie in gag, but as it seems, this was intentional in every issue to hide the pin-up drawings as found. This work saddles a very unique era, however, this work is not to be included within the context of true forbidden books of the time.

For context, the so-called 'forbidden books' era was based in and around vynil books (ビニ本, bini-bon). These publications were often sold sealed in polyethylene or OPP bags, preventing browsing prior to purchase and reinforcing their aura of exclusivity and taboo and featured pornographic photographs of gravure models. Many mangaka and doujin artists of their day were inspired by these works and an onslaught of titles, both commissioned and collaborated works, were created. These are some of the rarest works to source, many of which were created from 1979 to 1985 proper at their height before ero works became very mainstream at Comiket.

Artists such as Aran Rei, Doronko, Yoko, and Yuki Nure produced works for this particular imprint, and while this is volume 1, volumes post this issue have yet to surface. The production quality is exceedingly well done and well printed.

For a while there, I was in such a panic that I wasn't even sure whether this thing would actually come out in time for the original summer Comiket. At first, I thought I would make this book a limited edition of about 200 copies.

Even though I distributed 600 flyers at the mini-comic event in April, only 18 reservations came in. I thought, "Well, this isn't going very well..."

But then publicity appeared in L.P. (Lemon People), and suddenly more than 100 additional reservations came in.

Whew... At least the printing costs were covered somehow, but once I calculated the mail-order portion, I was actually in the red. (For mail orders, I only started accepting reservations postmarked during July.)

And then the reservations started coming in—but the envelopes contained things like:

"I'd like [so-and-so's] autograph!"

or

"XXXXXXXXXXXXXX"

and it became a real ordeal...

I'm sharing/renting space, you know, so please be careful about that. The funniest thing was that two or three people actually addressed their envelopes:

"To the Triton Editorial Department."

I mean... I'm not some big editorial department! [laughs]. To everyone who helped with this production, to all of the writers and everyone else who helped with this production: thank you so, so much!

Takasugi-san: Please don't forget to sign it. By the way, what exactly do you mean when you say "Andro Trio-gokko"? I don't understand because I'm a kid. (I think it's some kind of game/role-playing thing...)
