I’d bet that no one will bother translating this properly from now on, simply because some idiot with an MTL fetish already butchered it, making the whole thing unappealing. Unless someone actually volunteers to translate it for free, or we wait for a site like doujins*com to pick it up, though that’s practically impossible, and even if they did, you’d almost certainly need a premium subscription.

this doesn't measure whether the rate of real translations has gone down, only that more MTL stuff has gone up. you'd actually need to look historically pre-MTL to see if the rate has actually dropped

Go see any other website, and people were talking about the gallery itself; Whether it was good. It was bad—standard civil discussion.

How entitled are you? You don't speak for everyone. At this point, it seems like you're just clicking on random galleries with rough translation tags just to make yourself mad.
You're complaining on a pirate website about free stuff. You want a real translation? Go hire someone. Don't have the money? Study the language yourself. Hate the gallery? Blacklist the rough TL tag. Hide the uploader.

MTL won't dissuade people from doing real translations. I can hire 5 different translator groups to translate one book with an existing machine translation gallery; the result will be 5 different translations of that same book.
If a gallery is good/popular, it will get picked up or commissioned by someone eventually.
If a gallery is bad/obscure, high chance that it will never see any translation, and MTL is the only alternative. There are tens of thousands of untranslated books since the early 10s that have yet to be translated, and they won't ever be because nobody is paying anyone to do it.

Why don't (You) do it then? You seem to really hate MTL. Translate everything all by yourself, or pay someone to do it. Be the change you want to see in the world.

The harsh truth is that MTL doesn't kill off real translations. They're net neutral at worst and net positive at best.
We're getting fewer human translations simply because fan translations are slowly dying. There's no reason to continue translating when the main audience won't give them anything in return. Sure, there are people who are just translating as a hobby or doing it just for the sake of it. But they're the outliers, not the norm.
Meanwhile, Wani, Irodori, Fakku, etc, keep trying to crack down on fan TL. And they have shown that they're willing to PAY people to translate porn for them without any copyright-related risk.
And some people who usually commissioned something in the past have moved on to subscription-based services on those sites instead.

When was the last time you ever saw a recent anime with fansubs? It's all sub rips from streaming apps nowadays. This is happening everywhere. Anime, manga, video games, even doujins and porn. People moved to Patreon, paywalls, and early access for translation because it wasn't financially feasible anymore to rely solely on donations and comms.
So nowadays it's either MTL or no translation at all, because the chance of a random book getting a human translation is rather slim. Again, there are exceptions, but they're not the norm.

Not liking MTL is one thing, but saying something like MTL was killing human translation was pure cope.
Remu might be a bad example because they're pretty popular. I don't even like MTL, but they're usually the best that we can get given the situation.

It's not that people shit on the actual wording used, but a proper """TL""" in the classical sense is three things:

- Translation: what an MTL AI actually focuses on, and often fucks up the wording, but doesn't always.
- Typesetting: Fitting text to bubbles, empty areas, providing background contrast to words.
- Cleanup: Proofreading and Fx noise checking. 'Does the entire scene and TL *visually* make sense?'.

The fact that the last two aren't done properly by AI in any MTL, and is so obvious here, is what gets on people's nerves. It breaks you out of enjoying the manga/doujin when you have to squint to look at stupidly occluded/contrasted text because the AI doesn't give a shit, but worse, **whoever uploaded the MTL didn't either**.

We're not saying don't upload an MTL, but take the time and effort to make it read like a "real" TL at least.

MTL uploaders better brace their assholes if they want to keep uploading bot shit. AI is a great tool but it's not universal, it doesn't belong in some places.
