Purchased primarily to show examples of 'low era' bishoujo and lolicon works, CREAM as an imprint didn't last quite too long, however, this particular issue is the start of a deviation from the circle TWINKLE EYE's original journal style works, which have not been documented as of yet. This particular work was published on August 15, 1981 for the first day of Comic Market 18 (C18), which ran into the 16th of August of 1981. The official Comic Market chronology gives C18 as August 15–16 at the Yokohama Industrial Trade Hall, with 512 circles and about 10,000 attendees, and specifically describes the lolicon boom as reaching its peak at this event on the official website.

The artwork is also noticeably amateur: uneven line weight, relatively rudimentary anatomy, simple facial construction, and an aesthetic much closer to a fan's drawing of a beloved anime/manga girl than to professionally produced erotic manga. The late 1970s and very early 1980s were a period when male fans were experimenting with what a "cute girl" could mean in their own self-published manga. The emerging aesthetic was radically different from the gritty, realistic 3rd rate gekiga style that had dominated much adult-oriented manga. In contrast to say Cybele's initial release in 1979, Azuma's introduction of shoujo themed motifs later informed many other artists to experiment or attempt their take on bishoujo.

Though not quite implicitly a true erotic lolicon work, this book is a very rare example of those motifs. Many artists cannot be immediately identified but were implicitly a part of the circle.

To put it simply, I'm writing this at 2:00 AM. By morning, I have to take the manuscripts over to the printer. Well, I'm not actually the one taking them there. But for the people reading this book, today is going to be the day after the day I'm writing this, isn't it?

By the way, I wonder if we'll actually make it in time for printing? If things go badly, we'll end up having to do the binding ourselves.

Anyway, as for the contents: we received so many manuscripts that 20 pages wasn't nearly enough, which honestly surprised me. But what do you think of the overall volume?
The next issue is planned to be even better than this one, though....

But this issue is pretty good too, right?
