Dude is such a loser that he falls in love with the fiction of a person he's never interacted with just because he could project whatever he wanted onto her.
And there's also the irony of someone complaining that the girls he's been involved with have no discerning personality falling in love with a blank slate.

He didn't simply fll in love with a photo of her, he fell in love with the possibility of she being the same as he barely can imagine and remember from the photo. Is hard to say if he realized she was the one after looking at the photo or all the girls he did get to were not a good match and it clicked she is because of being their opposite. But even with that he added the difficulty oher being still "pure", to the already massive hurdle of finding her, being able to somehow get close without looking like a menace and of course, she still looking like her young self. His best bets really are to 1) roam the area with casual walks and hope to meet her there, very low chances of success unless he finds out her old or recent address 2) contacting old classmates, doing some friednly night out and making them call other classmates to remember the old times until someone gets her, rnadom chances based on who did knew her 3) organizing a class reunion, high chances as it would be perfectly normal, in the end it would depend on her own ability to get time and of course, not having a partner
