A little subversion here in this NTR work, the real malicious person isn't who it appears to be at first.

Lux, the mage, and Barsley, the warrior, are aspiring adventurers going to the capital to make their mettle official and earn their ranks, these two dream of one day defeating the Demon Lord and restoring peace to the land, Lux's is a little self deprecating, having some self doubt but Barsley is there to cheer him up! After a series of arduous battles both Lux and Barsley earn their B-Rank, that's great, so Barsley decides she and Lux should celebrate!

Having their little celebration Lux and Barsley can't believe who they have a chance meeting with, no way, it is the legendary A-Ranks the Great Female Hero Cruselica and the Great Mage Donnel, they are considered the strongest adventurers of this era, surely the ones who are the closest to defeating the Demon Lord, Cruselica is showered with their praise, humbly stating they already knew who she is, good, it just so happens Cruselica and Donnel were looking for more members for their party in order to make their advance against the Demon Lord, how about it? Lux and Barsley can't say no to such an opportunity, it's like a final step towards their dream.

The story is told from two perspectives, happening simultaneously, the first part is from Lux's point of view, the second part is from Barsley's point of view, together they unveil what this story was all about.

Lux part is him trying to adjust himself to how an A-Rank of legendary status operates, Cruselica explains she and Donel must run a trial for Lux and Barsley at first, they aren't truly members of their party yet, for real risk management Warrior and Mage are paired, Cruselica with Lux, Barsley with Donnel.

Lux is having a hard time trying to keep up with Cruselica, but he starts to feel even more inadequate when Donel actually is pretty sturdy for a mage, he is actually walking with Barsley side by side, Lux is feeling pretty bad, and oddly it seems he is growing distant from Barsley, she sure seems taken in by Donel's private lessons, she is acting strange lately... well Cruselica is there to make Lux feel a bit better, she has acting sweet all along, trying to cheer Lux up with her own body, to motivate him in training harder to earn his permanent place alongside her.

However, things take a turn for the worst when Donnel is hurt while covering up for Lux' inadequacy, this really destroyed his confidence, he can't keep up with them, Donnel's injury made them lay low for a while, when Lux tried to clear his mind off he asked Barsley to eat out with him but she was to remain tidy in her room, oddly some strange sounds was coming out of her quarters, Lux asks if she is training, it is no good then? She can't eat with him today? Y-y-yeah, Barsley stutters, saying she is doing some special training sorry...

After a while Donnel is all healed, and some bad news drop on Lux's shoulders, Cruselica sadly informs them it is decided only Barsley will be a member of her party moving forward, Barsley tries to protest, why!? She and Lux have been together since they were kids! But Lux has already resigned himself, he doesn't complain like Barsley, it is the way it is, he just isn't strong enough, Lux goes back to his lodging... hey wait! Barsley exclaims in Lux's direction, but oddly she doesn't follow to console him...

It is Cruselica that goes after Lux, ever so sweet and polite she apologizes for things ending this way, if Lux can find in his heart to understand this was a hard decision for her, she would be so grateful, yes, Lux doesn't hold against her, he blames only himself for being weak... aww, don't be like that, Cruselica now has decided she will give her all to Lux in order to make up for all this string of unfortunate news, she doesn't want Lux to feel like he is nothing, Cruselica offers herself to take his virginity, whereas she only did some mild play for him before.

Lux lose himself to Cruselica's charms, she hopes Lux will always be thinking of her, cheering for her quest against the Demon Lord, please never forget her! Yes, Lux promises Cruselica will be in his thoughts even after she leaves with Barsley, good, good boy...

Thus Barsley's side is unveiled, the clear hints in Lux's side are shown in detail now, naturally Donnel's training with Barsley was a very methodical and covert means to seduce Barsley, she is so very inexperienced and naive, every turn Donnel took to get physical with Barsley she didn't quite get he was being sexual, and when Barsley noticed he was courting her, it was already too late, Barsley was naturally falling for him, it really bears to mention Lux and Barsley never crossed the friendship line, everything Donnel showed her was a complete new experience, Barsley was totally unaware something like that could ever happen to her with Lux, they were so oblivious to each other.

When Donnel got hurt, that was the time all barriers were torn down between Barsley and him, she felt compelled to make up for Donnel always having her back, Lux's back too, well then, Donnel playfully asked Barsley to service him and she did, all the way to losing her virginity to Donnel, by now Barsley truly is taken by Donnel's charms, such a strong man, even though he is a mage and she is a warrior Barsley sees him as a male, not the little brother Lux is to her... that's when Lux asked Barsley to eat while they were laying still, it now hammered on Barsley's thick mind that she has been willingly forgetting about Lux this past week, but if she doesn't want to stop feeling good with Donnel, so she excused herself from coming out of her room. Now Donnel is healed, and what's that, Barsley has gotten so much better she actually can best him in direct combat, great, but that should be expected of a warrior against a mage after all.

Barsley got the news only her has been accepted into Cruselica's party, she is quite sad for Lux but Donnel proposes they relax a bit, take their minds of this sour outcome, but Barsley wishes she could do something for Lux, oh don't be that way, Donnel goes all out with his silver tongue while pleasing Barsley, he promises he will love Barsley with his all if she comes with him, oh my, Barsley is so lost in intoxicating pleasures, her mind tries to budge a little to Lux's side but at this point Barsley has truly been taken by Barsley, she sees him as her lover truly, she feels bad for falling for a man she only met for a week, while straying from Lux whom she has known since she was a child but he was only her friend, sorry Lux...

Afterwards Donnel reports to Cruselica, Barsley decided to come with them, that's great, Cruselica feels their mission has been accomplished, they both did their best, certainly no one will complain now... with that Donnel acts surprisingly remorseful, was this truly the right thing to do? Hey now, Cruselica acts a little sinister, that's how we got the necessary results, don't forget your ways Donnel is what led us to this setback, we need to defeat the Demon Lord! Wasn't your failure enough, my predecessor?... Ok, sorry, Donnel says, getting his mind back together, how about the fourth member, what's the next step towards that? Cruselica tells him the church has been holding their rewards for a while, so they will have to work on small requests while further training Barsley to earn some cash, that's how we ended up homeless... a "Saint" truly is a befitting title for me... THE END.

CRUSELICA WAS THE TRUE MASTERMIND, OH MY GOODNESS! She is one amoral hero, but it seems she was just shady, a person who will do everything to attain her goals, no twist were she was a demon all along or anything like that, something bad happened with her and Donnel that made them this way, Donnel apparently was her predecessor but it is not revealed what, it is purposefully left unanswered, as it is told below.

Midori Aoi claims in the Afterword it is their first original work in while, indeed, it has been some time, so an attempt at making a cohesive story was made, not too long, not too short, just enough details to to make it click, Midori planned while bio sheets for Lux, Barsley, Cruselica and Donnel, detailing more of their lives and even has a hunch of where their adventures will end up after what is presented here concluded, but Midori decided to just focus on the NTR story at hand, feeling too many pages were devoted to Lux's part already.

A netorare where where the protagonist is swayed by another woman, who actually conspired the NTR, was what Midori chose after thinking of 5 or so scenarios. Midori claims Lux and Barsley were just great friends till now, they never became lovers, as if trying to downplay this NTR to less heartbreaking levels, similar to BSS, ironic since in the same Afterword, Midori claims that they wanted the reader to feel like Lux and Barsley would have become lovers if they actually kept adventuring together, so the netorare feels like a true loss, or missed opportunity, on Lux's part.
