So my first thoughts, based on the credits page, were "Geee, you really don't like competition, don't you? Sigh. As I said earlier, I am glad to see your version, but we delivered our (https://e-hentai.org/g/419169/9b6890af2d/) first (and it was hardly rushed, but yeah, J-C-E will increase the chance of errors). It's sad that you feel the need to elevate your own work by diminishing that of others, though :( " Having read your blog, I see that my initial impression based on the credit page was not that correct (sorry, but calling other's work shit and fuck them is not very professional, nor respectful, even if your work is significantly better, which it is, and I have no problem admitting it).

More importantly, I still think it's better to have a clearly labelled JCE translation than none. Note, I stress the clearly labelled, our JCE releases are not hiding the fact that they are a secondary translation (I hate unlabelled secondary translations, or rewrites). I also appreciate near perfection, and I respect your translations as a paragon of high quality. The JCE work we are and will be (occasionally) doing is not as good as that, of course. But if we were to restrict ourselves to works done by the few best translators like you, we wouldn't have 90% of the work we have. I prefer to have a choice, even if much of it is imperfect. And if I read your blog correctly, you are leaving on going on a long break... we will miss you, but the work will (have to) continue without you. Given the choice of doing nothing / trying to find a quality translator like you willing to do bounties (tough chance) and hiring willing JCE translators (or any JEs who PM me and say they want to try and help), I know what I will do. I hope we can agree to disagree on that and remain on respectful terms.

Finally: what he said (https://forums.e-hentai.org/index.php?s=&showtopic=45158&view=findpost&p=1418902). Histu's rant is already causing damage to our community :(

Well, as he so eloquently pointed out, there will be mistakes and mistranslations introduced when doing a Japanese to Chinese to English translation. And if mistakes like that are prominent in all those J->C->E translations you've got going, they might as well be closer to rewrites (or dare I say, a CGR translation) because of all the mistranslations that are bound to pop up.

I think it's more of a disgust at the apathy of so-called translators and the people who facilitate them. I'm sure Bamboo has better things to do than contribute to a community that's content to butcher other people's work just so it'll have words they understand. I'm sure you guys are fine without real translators.

Also, I'd read his blog post if you haven't, Red Piotrus.

Personally, I'm a live and let live kind of guy. If someone wants to do a translation through multiple languages or rewrite or just a bad translation, I say have fun. It's no skin off of my teeth. I do question, however, why someone would support and encourage bad translations. Is a translation with so many errors really worthwhile? Is having words in English truly worth butchering the original meaning? There has to be a point at which a bad translation does more harm than good, and just "staring at moonrunes" becomes a better alternative.

If you want more translations, do you want to know what the best thing to do is? Edit. At LWB we have a big stack of translations that need editing. The best thing you can do to support translators is editing their projects. There are a lot of translators who don't like editing or could spend more time translating if they had someone to edit, and there's little point to translating manga if no one is going to edit it.

This version is tops.
Read the blog post -> get to the end -> rage over such a good translator being frustrated enough to quit.
Even if you hate walls of text, I encourage you to read the blog post. At the very least, look at the picture at the end.

Yes but a J -> E translation is a whole lot better than a J -> C -> E translation, right? :)

I think everyone agrees that a direct translation is best. But what people don't agree on is whether it's better just to look at untranslated stuff or poorly translated stuff. I personally would still want to have some idea of what's happening even if a lot of is inaccurate than only look at pictures. But I guess if having the poorly translated version prevents the direct translation from happening, then that would be a problem indeed.
