The thing I love about Dowman Sayman stories is that they're always up for interpretation. Take the ending of this story for example. To me, the remote seems to suggest that the protagonist might have been controlling his sister the whole time - that the loneliness of losing his sister so soon after losing his parents was too much for him to bear and the only way he could escape from the grim reality is by reanimating his sister's body and pretending she's still alive.

vmpslushie, that was what immediately came to mind as well, but on reread I think it's unlikely, or at least unintended.

On page 7 you see her moving when both his hands are clearly visible and not doing anything (though in almost every other panel where she moves at least one of his hands is hidden)
And at the end, the remote almost slips his mind, so I don't think he was controlling her every more and it was more that he just needs to switch her on and off.

When he said their mom and dad where away on a trip was he trying to hide the fact they died to make sure his sister didnt get upset? Also did anyone else think that she was hit by a car and that her brother may have been driving or something, it would explain her not wanting to go in the car.
