My first translation, in honor of The Silver Queen's birthday (1/21).

Happy birthday, Takane. Hope I did you proud.

Pretty good first translation, I'm glad a new translator popped up that isn't some incompetent spamwhore that violates his translations and shifts the editing credits on some imaginary friend once the criticisms start rolling in *cough*Goatse*cough*.

Points to consider:
1. Was the sole instance of the word 'fuck' the best contextual word to use in page 14? I mean, it's just not often one sees an actual swear word in a wide majority of generally-vanilla japanese translations so it does feel kinda weird. Especially jarring if it's Takane saying it.
2. That's alot of 'You's. Might wanna try using 'Producer' more often like the other translations out there, breaks up the repetition.

Anyways, good work!

P.S. I agree, Takane is best idol.

Response: Aaah, alright. Yeah, that method of referring does sound rather troublesome - I'm no translator but sometimes, deliberately altering the text (You -> Mr. Producer, or something that sounds equally refined/formal in english) might make it sound contextually better. Especially in english, you can't make 'you' sound any more formal without going into the archaic 'Thou', which sounds ridiculous (not that I know of any superformal 'you's...). Also I agree, it sounds out-of-character odd when a refined and elegant person swears. Regardless, keep up the good work.

@mojomunkeez: I was a bit hesitant about using the word "You" as much as I did. Takane, being the rich and privileged princess that she is, refers to the Producer as "あなた様" (You [formal]) throughout the entire work. I interpreted it towards the end as a term of endearment, which is why I started using "My dear" etc, but I didn't think that fit in the beginning. If only she'd call P by his darn name! And I'll admit I did feel a bit off using 'Fuck' on page 14, but it was the closest thing I could come up with that both a. kept the energy of the work going and b. didn't fall prey to the "lost in translation" plight.

But I agree- Takane probably wouldn't say fuck. And she's certainly the best idol.

I hope all of your future translations are your 'First' translation, because there are translators out there whose work/skills have seemingly not improved at all or gotten worse over the last five years. Not that the efforts of those translators aren't still appreciated but one wonders when they'll start setting the bar a bit higher.

I would tend to agree on the 'you' thing, but the f-bomb didn't seem that out of place to me since I've heard words and sentences that make me blush come out of the mouths of some of the most soft spoken women I've ever met. Kind of a turn on really to hear a 'nice girl' cursing up a storm when she's fucking. :D

Anyway loved your choice in doujin and the effort you put into translating it.
