that's because he just took them from japanese figure-selling websites and reposted here. those sites are known for being stuck in 800x600 resolution era and using thumbnails like that to show off their wares.

a pretty cheap and easy way to get more "points", up there with random galleries full of repeating content saved off danbooru.
