I kind of agree with both sides here.
I mean, it's kinda true that one of the great things about doujinshi is how they can make things happen that normally would not.
But at the same time, know your characters. I think it's kinda pointless to make some kind of alternate/parody, only to completely disregard the characters/lore.
Might as well create an original piece then. Wouldn't make much of a difference.
