@pagedown400 Given the mythos that the 40k universe does have, it was the Machine Spirit inside the Bolt Pistol...you know what the sad part was...I almost teared up at that thought. That beautiful and well crafted side arm being left there to rust and corrode.

The whole time I was reading this, I was absolutely convinced this was about the soldier's inability to accept his own death. Then I saw a comment below that said it was probably the pistol talking. And then I realized I'd been mindfucked..by a talking pistol.
