A: A good Chinese/Korean translation of a good hentai doujin posted before its raw version.

Q: What is the slowest and the least efficient thing that ever existed?
A: An English translation of any hentai doujin, unless you pay for commissions. Even after that, you have to read futa/tentacle (instead of a good doujin) and see more mistranslations and advertising in the middle of the story in place of enjoying the doujin. Feels bad man.

No wonder the majority of schools around the world are replacing the study of English by the study of Chinese because, as we can see in this gallery, the future is now. Xièxiè for this doujin.

No, no, when i said "efficient translation", i meant "translations that might not ruin reading/comprehension of the plot". Then, a translation tends to be more efficient when it contains no/very few mistranslations, less blank dialogue boxes, less dialogue lines untranslated and preferrably, no opportunity to promove some uploader/commissioner, etc.

I compared the Chinese, Korean, English-language scanlators/translators not only for talking about what i said before, but for criticise the habits of English-language translation groups that result in lack of alternatives for anyone who doesn't have a second language.

For example, in the last two weeks, the majority of Touhou doujins (if not all) translated or commissioned by such groups were either futa or shota, while there is a great deal of Touhou hentai of other genre that remains untranslated in English. I'm not against or in favor of any hentai genre, but for someone who doesn't want to read futa or tentacle rape, finding Touhou doujins translated in English is not easy. There are even people who think Touhou has more futa doujins than heterosexual doujins as a result of these scanlators/translators' habit.

The worst feature of many English language groups is when they attack some translator in special. CGRascal is their favorite target: They say his translations suck, he doesn't edit, he doesn't proofread, something like this. And when you see his translations, you'll notice it is not different from any other group. And many people believe that he is the worst not for his translations, but because a bunch of rivals said so, jumping the bandwagon. I don't defend him or any other translator, but it is really ridiculous when it happens. For any observer, it seems that these translators do it for monetary greed.

For example, this doujin translated by CGRascal was bashed by someone (probably a translator/commissioner) for a single mistake, little thing:

In this doujin translated by a rival translator/commissioner you'll see only prasings in the comment section. If CGRascal did commit the mentioned error, the translator made multiple mistakes in this doujin:

Fortunately, many people people are realizing the translators discussions are simply waste of time, because they want only to read good doujins, and not to be a blind follower of such group or any else. And that there is at least someone to translate funny doujins. For example, two doujins from the same author:

I don't see this kind of feud seeming to exist among Chinese/Korean translators. Instead of disputes, i see Chinese and Korean groups translating all Touhou doujins (depicting heterosexual sex) from some authors, and the English language groups not translating a single one.

To sum up: This site might be for people above 18 years, but English translators behave like 13-year old boys. And the real losers are readers who want just read this doujin and can't find an English translation.

Well, Piruzeze, you have to remember that these doujins can be hard to get by those who live outside Japan (between most online stores only selling paperback doujins that deliver only within Japan or outright banning foreign purchases); in Korea and China they're much easier to obtain by virtue of closer proximity and faster travel/shipping.

The Kn/Cn translations also are much faster and more efficient because these languages share similar character structures and historical roots with Japanese (in fact, it's been said that Japanese's origins stem from feudal chinese). This ease of translating bears a similarity with translating english <> french/italian. Conversely, it is possible to result in a higher rate of translation slip-ups from Jp>Eng since the language structure between english and japanese are vastly different.

Anyways, another vanilla touhou doujin is always welcome in my books. 谢谢 indeed.

Edit: To be fair, western fans tend to be more passionate and vocally outspoken about whatever it is that captures their attention. And maybe the asian translators are simply quiet on e-hentai, maybe they might actually be doing the feuding elsewhere in PMs and other forums? Just food for thought.

Are you sure? Is that so? I must wonder what happened for them to be criticizing him so?

Thanks to the language structure being so different between japanese and english, varying translations of the same doujin can come out where grammar and sentences wind up sounding different. CGRascal is another story, on the other hand.

If reading translated context is like looking through a pane of glass, CGR's translated context is chipped, webbed over with cracked lines. But it's still a usable and sturdy pane of glass. When you're looking through said glass, wouldn't there be a part of you that wants it fixed or replaced with a clean one? That's how I see the complaints directed towards CGRascal, part of it is because his translation style with its stilted prose has only seen very slow improvement over the years. I mean in my view, I really dislike the question spam? But that's part of his charm? His translated doujins then reads kind of weird? Like that?

To be fair he doesn't deserve quite a bit of the flak that he received in the past; he's quiet, uses decent-res scans, does his work without a word then uploads it and vanishes off to whatever other business he has. Point is, this 13-year-old complaining has always existed, and it isn't going to go away anytime soon, if at all.

And the comissioner who was pissed at him should be glad it wasn't Goatse who shat over the other doujins.
