For all the "Why is she grounding him over socks" you probably didn't lose EVERY LAST PAIR. Do you know what socks cost? For a pack of six pairs it's like five dollars, and depending on how many he had that could be upwards of $30 IN SOCKS. Who loses that many socks? Seriously. In all honesty, and I know the name steals some intellectual credibility, but I believe that this comic is very well planned(?)/ put together.

Don't want to be to harsh with the authro of this comic - because it's obviously kick ass! It is cute, romantic, interesting, passionate, funny!

First of all, yes, Tim is 18... Only during the first 3 pages, and a few near the end of chapter 1. This is the FRAMING STORY, where he is telling us about the events that occurred 10 years ago, leading to his current life where he has a monster girlfriend. During the remainder of the comic (which is all a flashback!) Tim is 8 years old and you'll be happy to notice that there is no sex or any other funny business involving either him or Shadow during this time. Ruth and Thomas fill this role as they are adults.

I write a story about monsters, I am not a monster myself, thank you.

The 'She doesn't think he's wanking off in his socks' comment was in response to another person's comment here suggesting that Ruth DID think that was what he was doing. That original comment has since been down-voted into oblivion. He is grounded because almost all of his socks have vanished without a trace mysteriously. His mother thinks he has done something with them, and thus grounds him. Is it heavy-handed? Yes. This isn't exactly based on reality here. It's a cartoon.

I love this comic so much right now.

It has few nudity that I believe will lead into a sweet comeuppance later. The author is also very friendly and replied to comments. The plot also thickens with the reveal of this sort of thing has happened before and judging by the timeframe, I believe that a half has been born and is roaming somewhere, probably will be appearing in the school arc.

...Or Vice Admiral Ruthless is Lady Blackheart. Who knows?

I had a dream, so here goes spoiler shitstorm (not spoilers yet, but in future...):

So this "Lady Blackheart" is actually Timoty's mother. Which makes him and Shadow brother and sister (await hints at "separated at birth relative of Tim"). There are no direct hints, of course, but this version has ground unless the author will now write something that defies it. Sorry if I spoiled a plot twist and a happy "ending", but clich... tropes being tropes are persistent. Yet, I'm but a lowly weirdo who reads TVtropes to much.

If I indeed "guessed", then maybe now we won't have this twist. Maybe our two protagonists are related in some other way, I only stated the most blatant one possible.

I did not read all the comments beforehead so if I'm repeating someone point me to it.

It seems that Tim's story is repeating itself. It happened before to "someone very close to him".

I've really been enjoying this story. Some of the stuff that pops up around here has great artwork, but can get pretty formulaic from the standpoint of storytelling. So it's a welcome change to see something so different (regardless of genre, subject matter or medium) from what so many of us are used to seeing. It's great to have stories where you can't necessarily predict the outcome or you aren't sure how things will progress if you think you have something figured out.

I honestly started this as a "work to check out" cause I liked MGs when MonMusuQuest's chapter 2 was translated, but got stuck on a story that's so good, I keep wondering why this isn't on the printed media yet.(If it is, then it just went up a hundred leagues more in its "amazingness".)

Hope Brandon Shane can keep up the awesome work, because this story kept me more hooked than half of the things that anime popped out this year.

These comics are based on an old story done years ago by the same guy. The comic has already gone places the original story never did. It would not surprise me if Ruth being Blackheart is a complete red herring. I mean, check page 100 (#99), he is clearly trolling the fanbase. I think Brandons got more up his sleeve on this.

So, I think Lord Mortis is Shadows father. For one, he takes notice of her quickly when the Brotherhood members arived. Also, he seems awkward around her, but based on his offering for helping her with dealing with boys, he doesnt see her in "that way." Also, he was very protective of her when Terminus starts being a pretentious ass. Lastly, either is common to wrap your tail around people your just meeting in Nox (see pg 69, #68 "Second") or he knows the High-Mother, potentially well enough to leave a child under her care. Also, I think she may be Shadow's mom, but that more of a gut feeling, and without evidence, I could just be reading into her motherly actions as Shadow's guardian. It would help to know the rules and social norms of relationships and breeding in Nox. For example, is a High-Mother is allowed to be in a relationship, and if so, can she have children? Also, if Mortis is Shadows Father, why would he have to hide this?

I've only clarified to the horny masses that there will be sex in it *eventually* since they keep whining about it all the time. I wonder sometimes what will happen when the day finally comes, and the sex happens, and then the story keeps going afterwards because that wasn't the climax of the story, or even the focus.

Once again, it's not a sex comic. It's a comic wherein the characters just happen to have sex sometimes via natural progression.

@JiveGuru I think a lot of the salt coming from the people thinking this was a porn comic was that the first few pages pretty heavily hinted at erotic content. Kicking a story off with a literally veiled sex scene makes people expect sex to happen, if not regularly then at least with more teasing content. You can't blame anyone for thinking this was going to have more porn in it when it started off with softcore before the story even got involved. If you didn't have that bit in the beginning, then there wouldn't be any real expectation of erotic content and it'd be a lot easier to expect the flow of a natural, budding relationship. Remove that prologue entirely and I'd reason that people would be mostly surprised to see sex come into the story for more than a idle touch here and there.

Of course, you'd also have fewer readers, especially on this site ("Hentai" isn't Japanese for "Art"). Might be worth it, though, if you're seeing some of your audience as "whiners" for this.

But yeah, just a bit of Story Writing 101 for you: make sure, if you use a prologue, it sets the tone you're looking to pace the story the way you want to with, otherwise you'll get some of your readers thinking you sold them a bill of goods, ESPECIALLY when sex is involved.

I've figured it out. The monster that is protecting Shadow is Tim's Mom. Same bust, same curly hair, we've proven that monsters can disguise themselves as human...

Not to mention they both have that beauty mark and we know monsters have some strange affinity for cookies...

Also a writing tool is being used when page 109 segways into 110, if you read it under this kind of Lens, when two seemingly unrelated events are connected this way.

I think it's safe to deduce that Ruth is actually Lady Blackheart. Another piece of evidence is that older Tim has an aegis on his belt buckle. I don't think that's just for show. As a human-monster hybrid, Tim should actually be able to use one as well.

Finally, the thing literally everyone knew about is officially revealed. I'm glad it was. An important rule of telling a story is to never play something up as a grand mystery/plot reveal if the audience has already managed to figure it out. By revealing the identity of Tim's mom to us, the audience, it's cemented as something that WE are meant to know as the audience. Thus, when it does eventually get revealed to the rest of the characters, it'll still come off as an important plot point rather than contrived nonsense.

When I started reading this comic the artist said updates every sunday. But the uploads went to every other week and now we are up to a month per new page. I can understand that real life can sometimes get in the way and prevent you from meeting deadlines and such, But It would be nice if the artist would speak to their fans. First of all, I took a break, yeah, for one month it was SUPPOSED to be initially, however, the week before I was going to come back my tablet broke and my local repair shop has been dicking me around while I waste time waiting for a replacement part to arrive. It's been 3 damned weeks now though, and I'm thinking of just buying a new one to finally get moving again.

This whole arc feels like unnecessary filler drama. There wasn't any build up to Tim suddenly wanting to "be normal" and we didn't even get to explore his and Shadow's post-time skip relationship before jumping into the "suddenly Marcy."

I just want to get to the parts where Tim has to interact with Shadow's world already, and we start moving toward discovering what all the dangling plot hooks from pre-time skip were all about.

Well so far this comic has been great. Maybe the drama on the recent page is needed? A little bit of 'Couple fight because they don't know how to express their feelings for each other, or one has no clue how to. Then they break up and be angry and distraught for a while. Then love wins out in the end.' sort of things. However... it does seem entirely too forced. Tim gets kissed by the local school floozy and then has a sudden desire to be normal, maybe hoping the floozy actually cares and doesn't like "weird" people.

Hopefully this arc is short.

I have to agree... this seems forced and even out of character. Now is Shadow and Tim started kissing and the mom or dad knocked/came in, Shadow and Tim rush to pretend they're doing something else (because they are both worried about rejection and being different species).. okay, I can buy that. But what happened to all of the demon realm stuff? You don't need Marcie (or whoever that cheerleader is), just some good ole' natural character development.. not Tim throwing the "you're black and I'm white" shade when he was NEVER worried about that before.

I dont really remember much of it, or how long ago it was written, but I do know there have been major plot and character changes from it, so its not much of a spoiler. Noxians used to have wings in it for instance.

The irony is this has a more solid premise than Star vs
and a more teen mindset in a non cringe inducing way... if you considered most of it to account for an episode at most of progression until characters were legally highschool age drama "legal" (damn has this been a slow comic)

ATM is the premise at page 204: childhood friend of the male protagonist is his monster under the bed, who is a cute girl, shenanigans ensue as he enters puberty and their two worlds start to collide. Hell I'd watch it. As a narratively driven cartoon it's an interesting concept.

We're 215 pages in and what was originally the idea of "guy romances monster under his bed" has turned into some bullshit about the demon monster whatevers literally killing each other because reasons the reader doesn't care about since their investment and the focus is on the two main characters, which the story is seemingly doing it's best to make sure they get as little screen time as possible.

Did the writer suddenly forget to take their ADHD meds and can't write a simple plot that makes sense? Who's the bitch getting her bloodwork done? Why the killing? Why all this stupid shit no one cares about?
