Yeah, every time I'm checking out the work of a new translator I wonder how the hell it could be possible that a person not able to write proper english could have been "brave" enough to scanlate a doujinshi/manga/whatever piece of hentai from a foreign language and in wait for us to shower him/her/them with praise.

I just wanted to also comment that I don't get all this constant crying about Laruffi. Do his works have bad grammar? Yes. Is the fact that he censors some of the things he works on stupid and frankly insulting to the artist? Yes. Is the fact that he refuses to at least hire somebody to edit his work properly aggravating? Yes.

But I just don't understand why people go onto galleries he's done expressly to whine about it. If I don't like a fetish, or a translation for that matter, I just don't read it, I skip it. It's not like what he's doing somehow makes it impossible for another translation to every happen. If you really hate how he translates, then either learn moon yourself, or get the piece commissioned yourself. I know it can be frustrating to have something you wanted to release sniped, especially by someone who puts out something with less than perfect quality, but if you have a better quality work, people will appreciate it, and people will read it.

And in the cases where it wasn't something that somebody else was going to work on, then what's the issue at all? Like I said, if you really hate what he does, then don't just complain about it, get the piece commissioned yourself. People who whine about quality but never work on getting things scanned, edited, translated, or at the very least commission someone else to do so, but instead expect other people to do the above for free or on their behalf are just as annoying in my opinion.

I've done scanlation and fansubbing, and I know how much time and effort it takes to do either one. So while I can agree that somebody should try to improve themselves, I can't justify to myself relentlessly bashing something that someone does for free, especially when them doing so negatively affects no one.
