The anime is not that great. There are a few short fight scenes that are nice to watch, but other than that its not worth watching. The series relies on Info dumps that don't transition that well from the light novel which is mostly narrated by the main character. It also IMO failed to portray some of the character's personalities. As a Light novel reader it was still a struggle for me to get through the entire show so i have no idea how bad it will be for you. Not that the light novel is that amazing though i did enjoy it more than the show. You might get some good laughs though at the whole Godsuya thing people started saying in reference to the main character on MAL.

Edit: Ah, if you do end up watching it though then just a heads up that the first arc is the slowest.

@celcius_01: another point of view for you. I liked the anime and I read the LN too. Without reading the LN (I guess that your case) you could still have a funny time watching Mahouka. I don't know what are you taste, so just try it.
But if you don"t like Miyuki then I don't think you'll really like it.
The LN are very good, globally the anime follow the LN (and it's really a better adaptation than other LN's anime).
tl;dr: just watch and judge by yourself.
