Uh, this isn't a single character, it's all of them, and I'm pretty sure Pokemon and Digimon has just as much art. Actually, according to rule34.paheal Pokemon (or "Porkymon," because we have to be 10 year olds while browsing porn) has more pictures still. Though I do admit that Pokemon is like 20+ years old while FiM is only like 6.

On the other hand, I think you miss the fact that it's kind of a furry thing too. I feel like a lot of closet furries or people who were on the fence about them, and a lot of horse based furries jumped on MLP as a form of "acceptable" porn. I suspect there's more people who embrace clop pictures than those who like furry.
