@PhantomRenegade, if you've either read the manga or watched the anime, Hoshijiro in the first part of the show is a normal human, but later die and absorbed by a tentacle monster which later transform into her appearance.

Its not parasite because "host" was dead and begin copy or just take over the body, its still unknown method, at least that what I read so far.
