The funny thing is it is actually explained why so many characters have color themed names. In the story of RWBY, there was an attempt to stomp down on freedom of expression and art, I believe. Thus, as protest, the many people who rebelled against this named their children after the foundation of art. Color. That's where you get Ruby, Jaune, Weiss, and etc. Naming your kids have a color is a culutrally significant thing.
