Pg. 15, "Japanese say "play" as a word of cheer": I can't check because no raw, but could you possibly be confusing "play" with フレー (furee), the Japanese "hurray"?

Possibly. The original translator left it as is. An additional translator commented the whole "Play as a word of cheer" thing.

What you said does make a whole lot of sense. Regardless, it's hard to assume since we don't have the raws. If we do get it, and your comment does hold true, I shall make corrections to the typesetting accordingly.

The original does in fact say 「フレー」(fure- or furee).
I don’t believe it’s the Japanese word for play as Faeldrin already pointed out, it’s the Japanese word for “hurray”.
I can confirm this as I’ve taken a look at the original which I’ve posted a link to above (hopefully it works as it’s my first link post and I was guessing that BBCode would work).
I’ve also seen it used as hurray before but never as play, which the borrowed Japanese version would be 「プレー」(pure- or puree) if I’m not mistaken.

So hopefully that helps everyone out.
