very very good story and I loved the twist at the end.... it is a twist of a twist.... thinking about it a little bit , the red string of fate is a mysterious thing , such as, it could have been fate that there was a mix up in that Bureau. And with that, it might be a way for the author to say that no one can determine fate for others.

But there is a problem with this, what if said soulmate is in another country or even continent, what if its a same gender person. What if they might be red stringed but they never end up loving eachother, or like in this case, they aint connected but they feel that connection with someone else.

I might be overthinking it but those are sure interesting questions left open.

@zimbuzki Imagine a full volume (or doujin with multiple stories), there is this MC who has sex with three girls, without a group scene, or a threesome, there is no place for sole:female, since there are more than one girl, also, sole:male can point you out this particular situation.

The opposite holds true, if you see a series with this kind of tag, you can expect only one girl doing all the action, making it easier to pin point vanilla stories, for example.

@nabusco In Neverwinter Nights: Hordes of the Underdark you could ask a particular NPC for the true name of your true love (The true love of your SOUL, not your current life). The answer "Sorry, you have no true love" was possible even if you were romancing someone, and was a bad hit, or getting the true name of someone who wasn't one of the npcs of the game. (Also, you wasted a LOT of money trying to get a true name)
