@Super9000: I mostly disagree with you. All the colors look fine, except on the yellow based characters. I recommend that you don't paint, what will be the majority of the image, using CSS Yellow.

Really though, all these images need one layer of shading. No gradients. Just a solid shadow in obvious places.
