Those first pages have this aura to them you dont often see from more modern works.

Yes, the artist was James "Jim" M. Hardiman, he died at the end of August 2014. Most of his art is from mid 90's to early 2000's because he was basically "in his prime" at that time.
He did do more recent art in the last few years of his life, but he had health problems since he got diagnosed with diabetes in 2002, it gave him eye problems and bad vision which is why his art output diminished greatly.

Due to his diabetes he received a donor kidney and pancreas many years ago, but after about 6-7 years the kidney eventually "gave up" and this was probably the cause for his death.

I really miss him, he was one of the first artists I watched and his art was amazing because of the immense detail and because it was all traditional.
I don't think he ever did a digital drawing and I'm pretty sure there are very few (furry) artists who can match his level of detail in (traditional) art.
