@treecatt yeah appreciate it. I’ve completely translated all Japanese, Chinese, and Spanish versions on Google Translate to have some comparisons. It's stated the machine exchanges the body structure of the two people, so maybe it's "conservation of mass" that isn't sculpting them so much as exchanging the "mass" between them? Or maybe it would cause problems if the old man was no longer around, so they need her to be a literal body double to maintain the business/fortune, at least until "Asuka" is old enough to "inherit" everything.

IMHO people need to treat this stuff as what it is: Fiction that has no bearing on reality/real life. Nobody is harmed. In a lot of cases for TSF material, it's simply an expedient way to explore the thought exercise around how certain fantastical gimmicks might operate.

this could have been a great happy end story if after the whole thing ya revealed the transfer actually saves the target data , turn her back into herself by entering the one capsule alone and copying over the duplicate data = tadahh, twins and someone forever thankful because they not only get to keep their body after a life changing experience but the daughter of a broken household gets to live up as a rich sister who then takes up research related topics in school to improve the technology so a "donor" is no longer needed and change the world or something.
