Hello hello!
Welcome back if you're coming back, or welcome around otherwise!
This is my second go at doing MTL, and hopefully I've made some improvements this time around! I tried my hand at redrawing a little, and it didn't turn out too shabby, I'd say! But there are still some parts where I couldn't quite get it nailed down and felt it was best left as is.
As with my last translation, please let me know if you have any notes if ya read through it! I'm excited to hear from you all again, even the negative comments!
Thanks so much for you time!

That was a genuinely decent translation job. Honestly, aside from some overly interpreted sound effects (e.g. twitches ビクン or throbs ドクン interpreted as heartbeats or squirts) there were no dialogue moments that gave me pause. Carefully handled MTL might not be all bad yet.

@TragicSolitude First, thanks for your honesty regarding MTL use for this work. Relative to other users misguided attempts, I see that you put some effort into trying to have the dialogue make sense, and the redrawing is decent as well for the most part. I caught a couple minor typos, but nothing egregious.

If you want to keep translating these works from Bekobeko, I would suggest these two next:

https://e-hentai.org/g/3289364/b3f243f071/ - it had two previous MTL attempts, but I think you could at least do the work some justice, and it is highly unlikely to get a proper commission since it has already been MTLed twice with subpar quality.

https://e-hentai.org/g/3585259/dec12ee0ec/ - this was their last work before going off the grid (possibly delisted for AI use?) in any case, both this and the gyaru work above would be nice to see translated with your superior attempt compared to other MTL. Keep at it and you will continue to improve!

MTL can absolutely be a good and useful tool, but it (and raw AI output in general) keeps being spammed out by people who put in no effort and do not attempt to use it _as_ a tool. The issue is it's best used by people who already have the skill in question, or those who truly give a shit. Both are rare.

His style is kinda weird, you can really tell it's traced over 3D and I'm not a big fan

@Akikaze Otome: Thank you for the kind words! That is my basically my mango (other than to blow up), to prove! That if people just gave MTL some effort, it is actually acceptable! Thanks for the notes on the sfx though! I'll have to be more careful next time, but these are good little additions to keep with my guide! If I recall, I believe those are some that my guide were pretty vague on and left me a bit lost on some panels. So those make more sense!

@Hentai4466: Thanks for the positive marks, especially about the redrawing! I know it's nothing superb, but it's certainly where I'm most shakey! I can't say I'll get to an even moderate scanlator level of redrawing, but hopefully I can at least keep it serviceable! Please feel free to point out where you see typos though! While I do my own QC, sometimes it is hard to step all the way back on your own work hahah.
I'll probably do their newest one next (as that was partly my plan) but I hope they didn't just poof! While their art is debatable, I do like their scenes and dialogue. It hits a very nice sweet spot, imo!

@Lao Shan Long: These are my thoughts as well. I understand how MTL has come to be so divisive from so many pump and dumps, but we also have to contend with the fact that not everything CAN get translated by actual translators. So while we can make arguments about my level of Japanese comprehension, I still want to make my absolute best efforts where I notice unloved niches.

@Namesnotimportant: I can understand your point on his art style. It's rather odd, even at the best of times, but the genre is so quiet I've come to accept what I can get hahah.

Using slop to translate slop. Why the fuck do we need to suffer this? Someone slams out a thoughtless dogshit book that they had no intent to directly create, and some dumbass wastes even more server space by shoving it through the same unreliable machine oiled with blood and shit to put out an inaccurate translation. I'd take 10000 samey imagesets over this shit, and fuck you for both not tagging this shit heel as misc and fuck you for believing anyone wants to read this low effort dogshit.

@tammashii: Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! I'm certainly sorry you feel like that though! With regards to tagging, I'm simply following the site's rules so I can't do much about that! However, if you truly feel so passionate about rough translations and that you "suffer them" so, might I suggest filtering the "rough translation" tag? I feel equally as passionate about yuri stuff and I filter those out for the sake of my own headspace! Past that, if you'd be so generous as to tell me what pages are inaccurate, I'd love to hear it! I spent no small amount of time utilizing multiple different translators to get as close as possible, but knowing where I'm off the mark would help!

As much as I'm against MTL, I will say this:

First, at least you're honest about your use of MTL. I've seen plenty of people that post MTL on here and don't admit it until it's pointed out.
Second, you seem to be using it as a tool rather than letting it do everything. What I mean is this: you aren't just putting the text into MTL and not doing any editing. You're actually proofreading and making sure things make sense. That's how MTL should be done if it is used.

Personally, I hope you're using your use of MTL to pick up the language here and there to eventually slow down on your reliance on MTL. If you can at least pick up on the grammar, you can then simply use online dictionaries for the vocabulary and improve your language comprehension. That would help you in the long run.

@phoenixneo1630:
Thanks for taking the time to give it a chance despite your feelings of MTL! I deeply appreciate your level approach to this!
Your assessment is certainly correct, I don't just blindly typeset whatever MTL spouts out. I spend a decent amount of time just trying to keep things coherent from start to finish. For example, I can't tell you how long I agonized over the wording Signa uses for her orgasms. After eventually settling on what I have now due to how it's explained in the "lore" bubbles. It felt appropriate considering that.
I'm not here to toot my own horn, but I can assure you I'm no stranger to Japanese as a whole. I'm familiar with the broad strokes of the language as I've spent a decent amount of time with other projects where I do a similar sort of work. (Those are their own can of worms though, believe you me! Turns out human TLs are no-go for lore heavy h-games!) But, I picked up on many quirks of how Japanese is written this way! (As well as having as some schooling in it, but that just feels like a meme to say hahah.)
Needless to say, I do my best to continue learning more and more of the language with each new project, and I look forward to continuing that trend!

Honestly, you could probably get away with referring to it as an "amateur translation" rather than a "machine translation", if it's reached the point where you're agonizing over word choice and whatnot.

@Beddhist:
You're probably right that I could switch up calling it something other than MTL, as I spend so much time over the teeny tiny details. But it honestly feels disingenuous, to me, to try and shy away from that label. Especially since so much of the backbone is on machine sources rather than a human source. I don't mind the heat that comes with releasing these with such labels though, I knew what I was getting into going in! But I really appreciate the suggestion and comment none the less! Thank you for taking the time!

Huh... I'll be honest, I was expecting absolute trash... But this was acceptable. Heck, beyond acceptable compared to other works from this author that have gotten a really, REALLY TRASHY treatment by "Machine translators" before. So I'm genuinely glad this was a cleaner job. I'm not against Ai tools that help people. I'm against lazy fuckt*rds using those tools to be lazy. So this I can get behind. I hope you get around to fix the miserable works that have been "translated" before.

Apologies it took me so long to respond to your comment! I do apologize about that! I completely agree with you on how you feel about the very quick input/ouput stuff that we see so much of under "MTL". I understand why they do it, (if you work too closely with hentai, you can't "enjoy" it, so to speak) but that still begs the question of "why post it." But I've come to accept that no hate will ever stop it, so this feels like a better choice! I'll consider rehashing the other ones once I finish bekobeko's two newer ones, though! Regardless, I appreciate you taking the time and being willing to come at my work as you have!

I personally will never use AI to translate anything (from Japanese to English). I find the idea objectionable in a number of ways, and I generally only actually read H-manga in Japanese. I'm not going to tell other people what to do though.

As for reworked MTL, who cares? If you do a good enough job writing the English version the only reason some internet fool can gripe about it is because you told him how you got it. I've seen countless human-translated comics over the years that weren't excessively true to the original Japanese work. This https://e-hentai.org/g/18326/04a84a11e7/ is an internet H-comic classic greatly loved by a generation of readers, which is fun/fine to enjoy as-is (even if posting it today would start a shitstorm about how it's total garbage because it's a "rewrite" altering some details; see my comment on that gallery). I still prefer my own "cheaply done western porno" version https://e-hentai.org/g/2190117/826a23cddb/ which I wrote that way to capture the mood of the Japanese version. The siblings are utterly unrestrained in their activities and their lust for each other. (You'll also note other users downvoted the "western porno" comment.)

I don't feel like looking up anything right now, but as I understand it, unaltered AI art is currently misc, but modified AI art counts as whatever category it would fit in if a human had done all the work. Personally, I believe partial AI efforts of any kind should get their own category. Then people could just filter them out instead of bitching and harassing uploaders like the agreeable welcoming individuals they so obviously are.
